About My Art

ABOUT MY ART

PASSION       I began marketing my work professionally in 2007 and my art career has developed from there.  I am now a full time artist working from my studio in Giffnock, East Renfrewshire. I have had a lifelong passion for drawing and painting.  I studied at Glasgow School of Art from 2003 – 2006 – part time and summer school.  The quality of art tuition at GSA is superb and this experience was inspirational.

STYLE      My style of painting is contemporary and I enjoy depicting landscape and studio still life.  Colour and texture is what I love.  My landscape paintings are full of colour and light.  Scenes are depicted with emphasis on realism and attention to detail combined with more abstract brush strokes.  Still life and floral pieces are bold and carefully composed.

RECOGNITION    My work was featured on the BBC One Show Summer Exhibition and I have paintings hanging in the Scottish Parliament Building.  My paintings were shortlisted for the 2017 and 2018 Ken Bromley Cover Competition.

GALLERIES           My work is exhibited in a range of Scottish galleries and one gallery near Cambridge.   You can see details on the EXHIBITIONS page.

MY STUDIO   I work in oil and the paintings take a while to dry before they are framed – so there is always lots of work in progress to see .  You are very welcome to visit to my studio in Giffnock to see work is in progress.  I enjoy meeting people and  answering questions about my art.  Please phone or text to 0797 386 0447 or e mail me at sheila@sheilafowler.co.uk or if you would like to visit.
