ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sheila Fowler is a popular Scottish artist working from her studio on the south side if Glasgow.

She paints in oils, exploring spontaneous colour mixing and mark making with paint.   Regular trips to Arran and other west coast Scottish islands allow her to capture the beauty of rugged beaches, fields and hills.  She also loves the abundance of wildflowers on beaches and in hedgerows .   Sketches, photos and the special memory of being to those places are inspiration back in the studio.

Sheila’s coastal and landscape paintings are an emotional response to the places she has visited.

Sheila also enjoys painting still life.  Paintings of flowers in vases are carefully composed.   Often painted on a simple background, the beautiful flowers and foliage take centre stage and she uses brush strokes and palette knife to emphasise the colours of the flowers and bring them to life.
